Apollo is a groundbreaking initiative that will look at the potential for a fleet of shared autonomous vehicles to fill mobility gaps between people’s homes and public transport hubs. It builds on the successful MERGE Greenwich project which you can read about here.
The project is led by Addison Lee, with consortium partners Oxbotica, Immense Simulations and Nominet.
This project will deliver Europe’s largest pilots of self-driven passenger services. We will deploy a fleet of 15 autonomous vehicles across four different pilot locations in Greenwich, with trials taking place in 2020.
As ever, DG Cities’ role in the project will be focused around ensuring that the services are designed for the benefit of cities and their residents. We will lead the work on city-led service design and customer research to ensure these two angles are the project’s 'guiding star' during service development.
