Telecoms Lead

DG Cities Limited is an urban innovation company which specialises in the integration of ‘smart city’ technologies and approaches to maximise their benefits for cities and optimise the use of resources, infrastructure and services.  We have particular expertise in ‘smart mobility’ such as Mobility as a Service, e-Mobility and Connected and Autonomous Vehicles.

We are currently delivering a wide range of exciting projects including a city Digital Connectivity Strategy, autonomous and electric vehicle trials and the Smart Mobility Living Lab: London -  a new national testbed for future transport technologies, services and business models.   

In this role you will work as DG Cities’ Telecoms Lead and be responsible for incorporating next generation technology and communications into urban innovation programmes. You will lead on the deployment of a range of roadside communication devices and infrastructure to support vehicle-based devices, sensors, V2V and V2X communications for the Smart Mobility Living Lab: London. This will include exploring the testing and validation of new 5G technologies.

You will also lead on the implementation of a city Digital Connectivity Strategy, a programme of work that will transform the digital connectivity of an area and ensure that all residents have access to digital communications, provide incentives to digital businesses to locate there, and enable the development of future mobile technologies that will rely on fibre backhaul.

As the company’s Telecoms Lead you will need have a strong communications infrastructure background with operating experience in a commercial or technical role within telecoms. As a member of DG Cities you will also need to have an interest in cities and their development, and be passionate about delivering city transformation.

This is a fixed term post for a period of 12 months.
