CAV Trials

Redefining how we get from A to B

DG Cities has a particular expertise in autonomous transportation, having played pivotal roles in a number of CAV trials including: MOVE UK, MERGE Greenwich, MAVEN and GATEway.

Our unique relationship with the Greenwich council has enabled us to establish the borough as a CAV centre of excellence, bringing vehicle and ridesharing trials into the community.  Through this work we have gained first-hand experience of managing and deploying autonomous vehicles in real-world environments.

Across various trials we have got hands on with the vehicles and technology, exploring how autonomous vehicles manage intersections to optimise speeds and flows through junctions, through to vehicle road sign recognition functionality. But our involvement also perfectly demonstrates our-whole city approach as we have undertaken extensive R&D and strategy work to understand and recommend how to maximise the benefits of autonomous transport to cities and seamlessly integrate ridesharing services into existing public transport infrastructure.  We have also developed simulation tools and models to understand the impact of autonomy on logistics operations.

People have also been at the centre of our work in CAVs, and across various innovation projects we have worked with Greenwich residents to understand their perceptions, motivations, expectations and concerns around autonomous ridesharing services.
