Digital Connectivity investment strategy for UK local authority

The Royal Borough of Greenwich was experiencing widespread dissatisfaction throughout the borough with broadband speeds and there was a strong view that current connectivity performance were inadequate for future needs. Performance metrics showed that some wards in the borough ranked in the bottom 15% of London wards for average broadband speeds.

We were commissioned to develop a comprehensive infrastructure investment strategy to support their future digital connectivity rollout. Working closely with relevant Council services and other public-sector organisations in the borough such as schools, NHS and emergency services, we aggregated demand for broadband services.

We then identified new fibre infrastructure networks that would serve the participating public-sector organisations and maximise economic development within the borough. Our strategy also looked at the implications associated with the development of that fibre network.

The outputs of this investment advice are now being implemented through an innovative cooperation between the private and the public sector.
